Anna Paquin Discusses Bras and Sex

Anna Paquin doesn't mind opening up about her sex life. She told Nylon that she's fine stripping down for the risqué scenes in the series for the sake of realism.

"I'm sorry, maybe there are women who keep their bras on while they have sex. I don't happen to be one of them," Paquin said of her bra use while filming. "I don't think the naked body is particularly shocking or interesting."

But apparently she found something "interesting" about her True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer because now she plans to spend the rest of her life with him as his wife. Now Sookie Stackhouse would never talk about whether or not she does or does not wear a bra during sex. That is just something that girls from Bon Temps, Louisiana just do not discuss publicly.

Anna and Stephen Looking for Love Nest

Anna and Stephen are searching for the perfect family home before their nuptials. The couple, who play on-screen lovers, telepathic Sookie Stackhouse and vampire Bill Compton spent the weekend looking at properties in Santa Monica, California. A source said: "They can’t wait to set up home together, they have viewed a few houses but are still yet to find the right one."

A real estate agent took the duo to two moderately-priced houses while they search for a property with enough spare rooms to house Stephen’s two children from previous relationships: Billy, nine and Lilac, seven. The couple have been dating since they filmed the pilot episode of the vampire drama in 2007. Anna recently admitted their off-screen relationship makes it easier for them to get naked together in front of the cameras. She said:

"Obviously, if you're already with that person then you're not having to sort of get over the, 'Wow, I'm naked with someone that I don't even know the middle name of! I think that regardless of what kind of scene you're doing, the better you know the person... the more open and real your performance can be"
And that goes for stunt scenes, heavy emotional scenes and sex scenes. It is not yet known when the couple plan to tie the knot.

A Bigger Bite

A Bigger Bite

Sam Trammel’s role as a shape-shifter in True Blood gets meatier in season 2........

Fans have truly embraced HBO’s Original series True Blood which is immensely popular not only in the US but Asia as well. The second season, which makes its debut tomorrow on Max in Malaysia, will see more issues facing telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).

Sam Trammell, who plays one of the supernatural creatures on the show, known as a shape-shifter also has a sad past while having an unrequited love for Sookie. Although he might not have received as much publicity as his male co-star Stephen Moyer, who recently got engaged to Paquin in real life, his character is a favorite among fans of the series.

During a recent tele-conference interview with S. Indra Sathiabalan of Surf2Sun, the 38-year-old Trammell from Los Angeles, said playing Merlotte was really challenging as the character is deeply-scarred: his parents had abandoned him when they saw him shape-shift as a young boy.

“He is very good at superficial relationships. He knows everything about everybody who comes to his bar but they don’t know much about him. They don’t know where he comes from or how or when he got to town.

“He wants to keep what happened to him as a kid a secret and he only shows others a certain side of him.”

Trammell was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and has worked extensively on stage and television. Trammell states, “The other thing is I’m also originally from Louisiana. The fact that the series is set there is really good as it gave me the opportunity to sort of represent where I really came from and the people I grew up with …. I thought it was a really interesting and fun world to inhabit.”

Most would remember him on Aliens vs Predator Requiem. However, it was the role of Merlotte which put him in the spotlight. “It was the combination between Alan Ball (writer and producer of the series) and HBO that compelled me to be part of the series. Their tie-up was very attractive to me,” he said since Ball had written HBO’s popular Emmy Award-winning series Six Feet Under and also won the Academy Award for Best Original screenplay for the movie, American Beauty.

Trammell admits to being a private person. Too bad he cannot shape-shift into a cute doggy! In the series, Merlotte is attracted to Sookie, and looks out for her but has to face the fact that she loves a vampire.

“You know vampires are tall, dark and handsome and they always live in castles, are wealthy and like to bite women. I can see why women like them,” said Trammell in jest.

“I think there is a real sexual thing about vampires,” he added, touching on their nocturnal shenanigans and gothic image.

Trammell hinted that there will be some romance for Merlotte later in Season 2 when he opens his heart to another woman.

Although Paquin and Moyer have taken their on-screen romance one step further by being a couple off-screen and recently announced their engagement, Trammell is not worried about how their relationship will affect the series. “They have been very professional and there has been no drama. They have been doing the same things that they have from the very beginning. Now that they are engaged, I guess it will just draw more attention to the show,” said Trammell.

RIP Godric

In last night's episode we were all shocked to see Godric choose to end is life after roaming the earth for the last 2000 years.
Access Hollywood has posted an interview with Allan Hyde, the actor who plays the role of Godric. Here is an excerpt from the interview:

"[Preparing for the role was] hard because obviously you can’t imitate a guy with the wisdom of a 2,000 year old person because that’s impossible,” he explained. “The way I approached it was to think about how he would react. His scheme of reactions.”

“I found stuff in my own life that I could compare it to. I had stuff in my early years of primary school where I was kind of a bully. It’s nothing compared to the stuff Godric went through,” he continued. “I came to a realization where I was just like, ‘Whoa, this is just wrong! And the way I felt bad about myself for doing this stuff was the equivalent of Godric’s feeling just on a smaller scale.”

Entertainment Weekly Review of Episode 9

Ken Tucker from Entertainment Weekly (EW.com) wrote a very compelling review of this past Sunday's episode. You can read the review below:

Beginning with a bang and ending in a whimper, this week’s True Blood turned out to be one of the more delicate, nuanced episodes of the season, and if that’s not your official SPOILER ALERT, I don’t know what is.

Taking up where we left off last week, a be-bombed Luke blew up himself and the vampire’s lair. There were a number of deaths, both human and vampire, and as Nan Flanagan, the TV talking-head for the American Vampire League said privately to her vampires, this public explosion is “a P.R. mess.” But this “mess” was not without its deep Blood pleasures. Eric shielded Sookie from flying debris, probably saving her life. In return, he lay wounded, and Sookie felt obliged to help him in his request for her to remove shards of silver shrapnel stuck in his body. “It’s too gross; it’s too… you!” protested Sookie, disgusted. But she did it anyway, chomping and sucking until Bill came upon them and told Sookie she’d been suckered by Eric, that the silver bullets would have pushed themselves out, and that “this means you’re connected; he’ll be able to sense your emotions.”

For his part, Eric just lay back and smiled, saying, “She was superb.” The metaphor for receiving a sexual favor from Sookie was all too clear. “You big, lying a-hole!” squawked Sookie. It was funny, but also ominous. “Don’t be surprised if you feel some attraction to him,” said Bill, adding, “sexual.” As if we didn’t know that. (Sometimes Bill is so inactive and so stating-the-obvious, he becomes less appealing as the series’ key vampire. But this also requires a more subtle range of acting, and adds to the complexity of vampire-human relations.)

There were, of course, other subplots. The Jessica-Hoyt affair continues to be comic relief, complete with an awkward dinner between the couple and Hoyt’s hoity-toity mother. But the bigger subplot was Maryann’s increasing power over Tara and Eggs, her striding into the jail and demanding to see Sam, and setting free the rest of the pleasure-addled citizen-prisoners. Sam escaped – he was a fly on the wall (er, table) when Maryann went to Tara’s house. Maryann has pretty much given up trying to hide her pleasure-principle powers, her let’s-party mood replaced by impatience and cruelty, as when she tried to lure Tara’s sober mom to relapse with a nice, chilled bottle of vodka.

Ultimately, the episode moved True Blood’s narrative ahead most forcefully in revealing to us just how much hitherto unknown influence Nan Flanagan holds in the vampire world. She was able to relieve no less than Godric of his status and power within these ranks. In the midst of this dead-serious stuff, Blood still had time for an excellent joke. Eric tells Nan, “You don’t have that kind of power.” Sneers Nan, “Hey, I’m on TV – try me.”

Yes, TV exerts a great and terrible power, doesn’t it, making us helplessly in thrall to True Blood. There was a beautiful moment when Eric cries as Godric explains he must die to atone for his sins. The love between the two men was palpable: “There are centuries of faith and love between us,” said Godric, trying to comfort an agonized Eric.

In the closing moments, a now-chastened, eager-to-atone Godric went up on a roof to see the killing sunrise. Sookie, ever the forgiving Christian, tried to comfort him, but Godric’s different faith surpassed even hers in welcoming either final death or a soul brought to ultimate justice: “I’m full of joy… I want to burn!” Godric cried in final ecstasy. The mixture of Christian and pagan faith; same-sex and hetero-sex love; and Sookie in a red gingham dress looking like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz… it was another genre-bending, mind-expanding edition of True Blood.

Am I right? Wrong?

True Blood Episode 9: I Will Rise Up

A wounded Eric plays Sookie for a sucker, to Bill’s dismay, and ends up getting inside her head. Later, Sookie and Jason reflect on their recent adventure, and end up bonding at the feuding Newlins’ expense. Blaming Eggs for Tara’s bruises and bizarre behavior, Lafayette and Lettie Mae try to figure out a way to pry their kin from Maryann’s clutches. Hoyt defends his relationship with Jessica to Maxine over lunch, to no avail. Jailed by Bud along with a group of Bon Temps revelers, Sam finds a novel way to escape his cell–and avoid capture by an increasingly obsessed Maryann. In Dallas, Eric and the vampires defend their recent actions to Nan Flanagan, and are shocked when Godric decides to take the fall for their PR disaster.

Sam Trammel Discusses the True Blood Frenzy

Edmonton Sun has featured an interview with Sam Trammell. We have included an excerpt here:

Just what is an innocent shape-shifter to do when the whole dang town is going nuts?“I’m kind of trying to rein in everybody,” said Sam Trammell, who plays Sam Merlotte in True Blood.Uh, that isn’t going very well at this point, is it, Sam?“No, it’s not,” Trammell said with a chuckle. “Everybody’s satisfying their lusty desires.”
"When I saw the words 'created by Alan Ball' and 'HBO', I was interested before I even read the pilot, and of course you hope things take off," Trammell said. "I was hoping we might be half as popular as Six Feet Under (Ball's previous series). But right now it's at a frenzy. I was at the Mad Men premiere and people in the business were calling relatives and asking me to talk to them on the phone. I don't know if it's vampires or if it's the talent of the people who have decided to write in that genre. It's a chicken-or-the-egg thing."

True Blood Scores Big in Ratings Game

Source: TV By The Numbers

Sunday’s episode of True Blood notched 4.43 million viewers, up versus the previous week (and previous series high) when it had 4.27 million. It also had a 2.3/6 (rating/share) with adults 18-49, up a tenth from last week’s 2.2 rating. Note: these numbers are only for the initial airing and don’t include the encore airing.
Will it hit 5 million by the season finale? The show keeps growing, and even its DVD sales are going strong after 11 weeks, and has pushed past 1.2 million units and $42 million in DVD sales in the USA. It’s a pretty phenomenal story for HBO, and the show just keeps getting better. The last couple of weeks were great.
I still haven’t seen any other numbers for HBO (Hung, Entourage) but if I see them will post them.
Update: I never saw the viewer numbers but courtesy of TV Bill (and then the same info later from Prada) here are the 18-49 numbers: HUNG: 1.6/4 ENTOURAGE: 1.7/5

Lindsey Haun Joins Cast of True Blood

The actress Lindsey Haun has just landed the role of Hadley Hale – Sookie and Jason Stackhouse’s cousin. She's set to join the cast of True Blood for at least three episodes this season. Haun is the former lead vocalist for hard rock band 7th Fall.

At this point, there is no word yet on why cousin Hadley is being brought into the picture. But according to Haun, she has filmed scenes with Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, and Evan Rachel Wood so her role must become a pivitol role within the series. Although her expertise lies in the music circuit, this isn't Haun's first acting debut. She has appeared in Desperate Rescue: The Cathy Mahone Story, in John Carpenter's remake of the 1960 film Village of the Damned and in 1997 she appeared in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Real Life," just to name a few.
On her MySpace page Haun wrote:
"First of all, True Blood! Sooooo... our guitar player, Sarah Carter, was on episode 2 of this season, season 2, with her other band Rocket!! The episode is called "Get This Party Started" and Rocket is the back up band for the Christian rock singer chick. It's pretty funny... and kinda wrong actually... in a good way. But wait there's more!!! I, Lindsey Haun, will be on the last 2 episodes of the season! Well, actually, technically, 3. We shot about 3 weeks ago and it was amazing! I LOVE Alan Ball and the directors I got to work with, Michael Cuesta and Daniel Minahan! The crew was so incredibly nice and professional and hard working. What a treat to be on that set! I can't tell you much because I don't want to give the story away but I can tell you that I play Hadley Hale, Sookie Stackhouse's (Anna Paquin) cousin. I got to work with Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, and drum roll please... Evan Rachel Wood. I can't tell you who she plays but I can tell you that she's awesome! They're all awesome! Anyway, I really want to work with all of them again so please watch the show and tell them that you want me on it more! lol!"

Tru Blood Beverage Available for All

The once-fictional Tru Blood beverage from the HBO hit series “True Blood” will be coming to life in bottle form this September. The blood-orange carbonated drink has a slightly tart and lightly sweet flavor that is sure to taste better than the O negative blood consumed by the show’s fictional vampires.

Crafted to replicate the appearance of the synthetic blood beverage preferred by the undead in the series, the real-life drink will also be called Tru Blood. “From its first season, fans have been enamored with the show and have expressed a keen interest in the Tru Blood beverage,” added James Costos, vice president of licensing and retail at HBO. “We’re extremely excited to be able to bring this original drink to life.”

Allan Ball, creator and executive producer of the series, announced the launch of the bottles at the San Diego Comic-Con convention and joked that the drink was a mixture of “wine, vodka, Vicodin, Viagra and Ecstasy” and that it was “completely illegal.” While they will cost an arm and a leg ($16 for a four-pack), curious fang fans will no doubt be stocking up on the drinks when they hit store shelves this fall. Until then, fans can pre-order Tru Blood at http://store.hbo.com/.
